Twovles Get Their First NBA All Stars Since 2014
The Minnesota Timberwolves have their first NBA All Star in four years as Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns were selected to the All Star game as reserves.
The last time the Timberwolves were represented at the All Star game came in 2014 in New Orleans when Kevin Love made the roster.
Since then, the Twolves have had representation at All Star weekend, with Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, Shabazz Muhammad, Gorgui Dieng and Karl-Anthony Towns all making appearances at the Rising Stars game.
In addition to the appearances in the Rising Stars game, Zach Lavine took home the Dunk Contest title in 2015 and 2016.
With Butler having a MVP kind of year, it was only fitting he made the All Star game.
He clearly has been the catalyst for this teams resurgence to playoff contention this season and is averaging over 21 PPG, 5.4 RPG and 5 APG per game.
He will make his fourth All Star appearance with the first three coming in Chicago.
Karl-Anthony Towns was named to the All Star game for the first time in his career and is averaging a double double with 20 PPG and 12 RPG.
The All Star game will be played in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on February 18th on TNT.
