A New Veteran QB Option Emerges for the Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are in search of a veteran Quarterback.
While fans can debate whether or not that search should be for a veteran starting quarterback, the fact remains that they are on the hunt.
Mac Jones, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, and Russell Wilson are just a few names that have been thrown around this offseason as options for the Purple and Gold.

Now, with a new report this week that the Panthers have received interest in their veteran backup via trade, a new option has suddenly emerged.
Whether or not the Vikings have made the call remains to be seen, but the veteran has now officially entered the conversation due to his supposed availability:
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Panthers have received calls about a potential trade for the veteran quarterback (Andy Dalton).
The Panthers are seeking a younger quarterback to develop behind Bryce Young.
“I think it’s really up to Andy, in terms of Andy competing. Andy’s not afraid of competition, so we’ll see what happens in free agency; we’ll see what happens in the draft; and then we’ll see how it plays out.”
Dalton has started 169 games in his career, but he has not been a full-time starter since 2022 with the Saints, when he started 14 games. He has made a living as a backup quarterback since leaving the Bengals after the 2019 season.

While it might not be the most inspiring name out there, Dalton could bring the desired floor to the position that the Vikings front office and coaching staff have eluded to this offseason.
It feels as though options like Dalton, Russell Wilson, and Jimmy Garoppolo are all backup plans should JJ McCarthy falter and/or suffer an injury.
It still remains to be seen how aggressive the team will be in pursuit of a veteran Quarterback, and what caliber of player that they will pursue this offseason.
