Relive Chris Kunitz’s 2OT Goal That Sent the Penguins to the Stanley Cup Final
Perhaps the only thing more exciting than overtime playoff hockey is double overtime playoff hockey.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are returning to the Stanley Cup Final after a thrilling 3-2 double overtime win over the Ottawa Senators in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Veteran Chris Kunitz sent the Pens to the finals by scoring a little more than five minutes into the second extra session
It was the second goal of the game for Kunitz -- his second of the entire playoffs, as well -- who staked Pittsburgh to a 1-0 lead midway through the second period. His offensive outburst actually ended a 34-game goal-less streak.
As for how he found the net, Kunitz remained modest:
The Penguins now face the upstart Nashville Predators with a chance to become the first back-to-back champs since the 1998 Detroit Red Wings. Game 1 is set for Monday night in the Steel City.
