Sioux Falls Residents Can ‘Get a Text, Not a Ticket’
Sioux Falls residents have a way to learn electronically when a snow alert is declared. The Public Works Department's Street Division says you can get "a text, not a ticket."
You can subscribe to the text alert service by texting the word SNOW to 605-413-1990, or you can go to the city website at siouxfalls.org/snow to subscribe to text, e-mail or social media notifications.
City officials say it's especially important for those who park on Emergency Snow Routes to know about weather conditions.
That's because once 2 inches or more of snow has fallen, regardless of time, parking restrictions take effect and vehicles parked on the snow routes can be ticketed and towed.
And getting a parking ticket during a snow alert can cost you upwards of $100.
