FARGO, ND -- The Sioux Falls Stampede suffered their first loss of the preseason Saturday night, falling 3-1 to the Force in Fargo.

Tyler Nanne tallied the lone goal for the Herd who are 1-1-0 in preseason play. Stefanos Lekkas stopped 37 of 40 shots in goal for the Stampede who will play two more preseason games before opening the regular season on the road in Bloomington on September 27th.

Fargo grabbed the first goal of the game 12:37 in when Austin Pooley found Mikey Eyssimont to give the Force a 1-0 lead after one period. Fargo outshot the Herd 12-7 in the period.

Nanne tied things up 4:32 into the second period on assists from Kieffer Bellows and Dillon Eichstadt.

It remained 1-1 until the 15:29 mark when Andrew Zerban scored unassisted for Fargo to regain the lead at 2-1.

The Force would score what would prove to be the final goal of the game with just four seconds remaining in the second period when Zach Yon took a pass from Christian Cakebread to give Fargo a 3-1 lead.

The Force outshot the Stampede 16-10 in the second period and 7-4 in the third period, but neither team would find the back of the net in the third and Fargo earned a 3-1 victory. The Force outshot the Stampede 40-26 on the night and both teams went 0-for-6 on the power play.

Sioux Falls will play two more exhibition games before the regular season begins. Next Friday, the Herd will face Lincoln at 4 PM in Sioux City at the USHL Fall Classic West. The Stampede will close out preseason play on Saturday, September 20th when they face the host Musketeers at 7:05 PM.
