I will promise you the following statement was made on Friday night by many Gopher fans after Minnesota lost to Maryland, "Dude, Minnesota is 0-2 after losing to bleeping Maryland."

The Gophers suffered an embarrassing loss to Maryland who was 0-8 in their last 9 nonconference games.

It has to be so frustrating for a fan base that was riding the wave of momentum from the 2019 season to see these two performances this year.

Minnesota started off down 21-7 and rallied to take a 38-21 lead only to see that lead vanish and the game go to overtime.

In overtime, Maryland scored a touchdown and took a 7 point lead on the legs of QB Taulia Tagovailoa who had a break-out game against the Gophers.

He ended the night with over 300 yards in passing and a huge night through the air and on the ground.

After the Terrapins took the lead, Minnesota answered with a touchdown of their own, only to see their kicker miss the extra point and subsequently lose the game.

Maryland's head coach Mike Locksley improved to 7-41 as a head coach  (that is not a misprint) and the Terrapins are now 1-1.

PJ Fleck is a good coach but this start is the last thing he thought he would be experiencing in an already wild 2020.

Minnesota does get a break next week aa they look for their first win of the year as they take on Illinois who isn't a good team this year.

That said, Minnesota fans didn't think the almost three-touchdown underdog Terrapins would be a tough game either and it turned into an embarrassing loss.
