Its been a never ending saga for former Huskers running back Lawrence Phillips ever since he entered the spotlight as a standout at Nebraska.

Today though it hit a new low.

According to officials and the associated press, Phillips is accused of killing his cellmate in a central California prison.

He is accused of killing his cellmate Damion Soward who was serving 82 years for a murder conviction.

Prison officials found Soward's lifeless body in the cell and are suspecting Phillips had something to do with.

After shining at Nebraska, he never found a place in the NFL after being drafted by the St. Louis Rams.  He was released by them while also having stints in Miami and San Fransisco.

Lawrence Phillips was serving 31 years after he had choked his girlfriend twice and run into some teens with his car after a pickup football game.

Sad all around.
