Iowa Football Legend Dallas Clark Going Into Colts Ring of Honor

Former Iowa Hawkeye tight end Dallas Clark is receiving the highest honor the Indianapolis Colts have to offer. They're putting Clark into the Ring of Honor.

Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay announced on Monday that Clark will be inducted into the Colts Ring of Honor during the week 7 game against the Miami Dolphins, according to Colts.com. Irsay called Clark tough, dependable, and a great teammate and person on and off the field.

Clark was one of quarterback Peyton Manning's favorite targets during his time in Indy. Colts.com reports that Clark spent 9 of his 11 seasons with the Colts and helped the team win Super Bowl XLI. He is the Colt's all-time leader in tight end receptions and touchdowns.

As Irsay points out, Dallas Clark helped modernize the tight end position in the NFL. He recorded double-digit touchdowns in 2007 and 2009 and is one of only 8 tight ends in NFL history to record over 100 catches in a season. But before he was a Colt, Clark was a Hawkeye. He was a walk-on at Iowa who turned himself into an All-Big-Ten player and a first-round draft pick.

I'll never forget watching Clark catch the winning touchdown from Iowa QB Brad Banks in 2002 as Iowa beat Purdue. Talk about a gutsy call. Play action on 4th and goal! Now this is the Iowa offense I remember!
