When I was a kid, my Grandfather was always watching the University of Iowa sports and was always locked in on a Saturday for Iowa football.

So as a kid, I was certainly aware of who Hayden Fry was and his importance to my Grandfather having a good or bad Saturday.

More times than not, my Grandfather was happy because Fry had a lot of success during his tenure as Iowa head football coach.

Unfortunately, Hayden Fry passed away on Tuesday at the age of 90.

He passed away after a long battle with cancer in Dallas on Tuesday alongside his family.

Fry led Iowa for 20 seasons and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

He had a career record of 143-89-6 at the University of Iowa which including a 96-61-5 record in the Big 10.

During that time he won three Big 10 championships and the Hawkeyes made three trips to the Rose Bowl.
