Fergus Falls, Minnesota Plans Big Parade For Hometown Idol Star
A Minnesotatown is full of pride since its Hometown Hero has been making himself a big household name on the American Idol stage.
Chris Tungseth of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, is one of the Top 5 Finalists on this season of American Idol. In honor of his major accomplishments, the City of Fergus Falls is planning a major party later this week.

The City of Fergus Falls intends to host a big parade for Chris on Wednesday, May 6th. Officials will honor this day as "Chris Tungseth Day." The hope is to vote Chris in the Top 3 and bring the American Idol production crew to film all the fun!
City officials say that when Chris makes the Top 3 on American Idol, the show will bring a production crew to Fergus Falls and the city will host a Hometown Hero event that includes a parade and concert from Chris on May 6. The theme of the day will be Red, White and Blue.
Music has always been part of this Minnesota family. Chris' father was a trained opera singer and eventually became a pastor and a worship leader, while his mom played the piano. He tells American Idol viewers that they did everything together growing up. Especially watching American Idol.
"I just feel so fortunate. Like I'm so blessed. I've been given the greatest family in the world."
Life hasn't always been easy for this Minnesota family. Chris' mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) when he was only 10-years-old. His dad kept the family moving during those tough moments. However, years later, his dad was diagnosed with leukemia. Chris and his siblings came together to support their parents and put their own lives on hold. Chris' dad fought hard, but eventually lost his battle to cancer.
Chris Tungseth captured America's attention when he performed an original song for his American Idol audition titled "Lonely Road," dedicated to his late father.
More information about the parade can be found here.
Don't forget to vote for Chris tonight at 7 PM on American Idol! He needs everyone in the Sioux Empire to vote!
Chris, no matter what happens, we are sooo proud of you!
