Report: Eagles Made Offer to Smith-Schuster

It took a lot of work to get cap compliant for the Philadelphia Eagles, but once they did, they went out and started to make calls to bring in free-agent talent.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles made an offer to free-agent wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who turned down a multi-year deal and more money offer from Philadelphia to return to Pittsburgh.

Per Schefter, the Eagles were a secret suitor for Smith-Schuster, but the veteran wideout wanted to stay in Pittsburgh, turning down bigger offers from multiple teams, including Philadelphia.

According to the report, it doesn't sound like the Eagles reached out to Smith-Schuster, but rather his agent contacted the team to see what kind of interest they might have. They made an offer, but in the end, he wanted to remain with the team that drafted him.

The 24-year old wide receiver signed a one-year, $8 million prove-it contract to remain with the Steelers.

While 2020 wasn't his best season, he has recorded 3,726 receiving yards through his first four years in the league and won't turn 25 until November.
