What's that, you were born to be a Skip? You sweep like nobody's business or you feel like you're the perfect candidate to be the Lead?

You're in luck, the Sioux Falls Curling League wants to talk to you.

Registration for spring league is now open and the curling club is looking for some new teammates.

Curling is a game of strategy and good sportsmanship. Two teams, each with four players take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called rocks, across the ice playing surface known as the curling sheet. The goal is to slide the rocks towards the target which is called the house.

Each team has eight stones. Points are scored for the stones resting closest to the center of the house at the conclusion of each end, which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones. The team with the high score wins.

Anybody is welcome to curl. The game is easy to pick up and easy to get involved. They have leagues for both kids and adults.

Spring leagues take place at the Scheels IcePlex on Monday nights and Sunday afternoons beginning February 29 and run for a total of 10 weeks through May.

The introductory league rate is $150 plus team registration. Don't feel you have the time to join a league, no problem, there are still opportunities for people to just come in and curl without the commitment of joining.

Need yet another reason to join? One of the customs of curling is that after every match the winners buy the losers a round of drinks. So as you can see, curling does have its benefits.
