Ordinarily you don't expect big things from a player who only touches the ball three times in a football game.

But this was no ordinary game for South Dakota State's Cade Johnson.

Despite only handling the ball a trio of times, the redshirt freshman racked up 136 all-purpose yards in Saturday's 62-30 win at Missouri State.

That efficiency earned Johnson Newcomer of the Week honors in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The big day for the Papillion, Nebraska native started right away when Johnson returned the opening kickoff 61 yards to set up a touchdown.

Later he caught passes of 68 and seven yards, the second resulting in his first career receiving touchdown.

Johnson and the Jackrabbits are back on the road this week when they play at Western Illinois, Saturday (October 28) at 1:00 PM.
