The concert and events business at the Denny Sanford Premier Center is booming at the moment!

So much so, there's been a higher-than-expected demand for food and alcohol during all the big name shows and events the facility has been able to attract.

The increased demand has forced the city to schedule an upgrade to the events center just two years after the facility opened.

According to Chad Stoner, General Manager with Spectra Food Services, the company responsible for catering at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, service and sales slow down during high profile events due to the lack of cold storage in the building.

Given the need for increased storage space, the city approved the use of some of the $2.8 million left over from the construction budget. The planned improvements will add up to an additional 1,200 square feet of storage space and 1,900 square feet of kitchen space.

Along with improving response time, the additional space will also allow the facility to broaden its food menu, said Stoner.

The planned upgrades to The Denny are scheduled to begin in 2017.
