As much of the FCS got their seasons started last week, the University of South Dakota football team will start their 2021 spring season this week.

USD was supposed to start like everyone else last week, but Western Illinois had some COVID-19 issues and the game was postponed to the end of the season.

So their first game since 2019 will take place on the road against Illinois State as the Coyotes will travel to Normal, IL for the noon kickoff.

Illinois State also had their opening game postponed but it was due to Missouri State's field conditions as they issued a statement saying the reason was "due to adverse weather conditions, playing field readiness and to ensure a safe environment for student-athletes".

Both teams will get their first action of the year this week and it will be a great opportunity for them to get off to a good start.

The big question mark for USD will be at QB where there has been a battle all off season and it will be key for their defense to give them great field position all game.

The FCS level is playing a Spring football season after they postponed their 2020 Fall season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
