2017 Class AA Boys Basketball District Tournament Schedules
Seventeen teams enter the district tournaments next week for an opportunity to be one of eight to go to Rapid City.
One game is left to be played out of District 1, but that won't impact seeding as far as the district tournaments. This game, however, could have changed the way the post season would be if it was a Sweet-16 system...but that's a discussion for another day. Roosevelt hosts Watertown tonight (February 23) in the final regular season game of Class AA.
The O'Gorman Knights have secured the top seed in District 1 following an impressive 12-game winning streak dating back to January 6th. Brookings (17-3) fell just behind O'Gorman in seed points, mostly due to a O'Gorman head-to-head victory earlier this season. Watertown and Roosevelt will be the bottom seeds of District 1 no matter what happens in their final game.
District 1 Tournament:
First Round: Tuesday, February 28.
- Roosevelt (0-19) @ O'Gorman (17-3), 7:00
- Watertown (8-11) @ Brookings (17-3), 7:00
Championship/3rd Place: Friday, March 3.
- Championship game at higher seed (Winner to State)
- 3rd place game at higher seed (Winner goes to region, loser eliminated)
District 2, like the girls, will have a play-in game that is scheduled for Saturday, February 25. Harrisburg had a nice run to close out the regular season and secure the right to host Yankton in the win-or-go-home affair. The winner of that game will travel to top-seeded Brandon Valley next Tuesday. Washington and Lincoln will play another game against each other in the opening round.

The Huron Tigers finished the regular season 15-5 and have secured the top seed in District 3. Pierre T.F. Riggs will be the second seed with a 10-10, and could be a team that surprises a few people in the post season. Aberdeen Central will be the third seed, while the winless Mitchell Kernels round out the tournament.
District 3 Tournament:
First Round: Tuesday, February 28
- Mitchell (0-19) @ Huron (15-5), 7:00
- Aberdeen Central (8-12) @ Pierre T.F. Riggs (10-10), 7:00

Three teams out of District 4 finished with 12 or more wins this regular season. Even with that, the top seed really wasn't in question. Rapid City Stevens has played against higher quality opponents (win/loss percentage) which has given them almost a two-point seeding advantage over Sturgis Brown. Sturgis finished just one game back in the win/loss column of Stevens. Douglas will be the third seed after going 12-8, while Rapid City Central will go across town as the 4th seed.
District 4 Tournament:
