Even though the 2021 Major League Baseball season is still four-plus months away, the sportsbooks never sleep, and have odds out on the teams they think will win each of the pennants.

So where do the up and coming Minnesota Twins fit into the picture?

For what seems like the eighth season in a row (but really just the last couple), the New York Yankees will head into the 2021 campaign as the favorites to win the American League Pennant. The Yankees have odds of +275 or around that number, and are the clear top choice of the sportsbooks, despite the fact that they could not get out of the division series in 2020, and also that there is a better team in their own division that actually won the title.

Tampa Bay is still getting little love from the books, with odds of +575 to win the AL Pennant, which is second choice, but well behind the team the Rays absolutely owned in 2020.

Which brings us to the next two teams, both from the AL Central. The Chicago White Sox have slightly better odds (+650) than the Twins (+700), but those are close enough that different sports books will probably see them head into 2021 with nearly the same odds, according to the NJ sportsbook Bet365.

Two AL West teams, Oakland (+825) and Houston (+900), which made the AL Championship Series for the fourth time in five years, are the only other teams in the league with odds below 10-1.

Interestingly, in the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers have the lowest odds of any team (of course, with three pennants in four years and a World Series crown form 2020) at +180, but there are two teams that have decent odds as well: the Atlanta Braves (+390) and the San Diego Padres (+550), both teams on the rise.

After them, the next team is also intriguing, and maybe one you might not first guess: the New York Mets at +900.

Clearly, sportsbooks think the new ownership is going to act like a big market club, and have the Mets signing big-time players. But they have to make up some distance on those top three teams, all of which might win 100+ games.

As far as the World Series winner odds go, the Dodgers will start 2021 with slightly longer odds (+425) than they had in 2020 (+375), with the Yankees (+550) the lone other team to be below 10-1 right now.

For bettors that want to throw out the two favorites, that means a lot of value for the other teams. Tampa Bay, which came within two games of a first World Series title, is +1200, while the Braves are second choice in the National League at +1000.

The Twins are set heading in December at +1500, which if you have faith in them, are very tempting odds for a team that could win 100 games.

But any team you bet will give you value this far out if they win.
