It was once seen as a big time move for the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire Jeremy Maclin as the hope was he would turn around their vanilla passing game.

The problem was the optimism never lived up to the production and on Friday, Maclin's career in Kansas City came to an end.

The wide receiver has been officially released and in the process the Chiefs now save $10 million in cap space.

Maclin had some games where he was the wide receiver we saw in Philly, but for the most part he didn't deliver and now as the Chiefs get younger, Maclin is no longer a piece to the puzzle.

It is clear the Cheifs are in somewhat of a rebuild mode as they drafted QB Patrick Mahomes in the first round of this years draft and even though he wont be over taking Alex Smith this year, Kansas City is looking to the future and some vets are essentially casualties.

Throughout his NFL career in both Kansas City and Philadelphia, Maclin has tallied a total of 46 touchdowns.
