Officials with the Minnesota State Patrol made the bittersweet announcement that K9 Maty is officially retiring after his years of service. The department posted a sweet Facebook photo with his fellow Minnesota Trooper to with the news.

Let me tell ya, K9 Maty has had an amazing career. He prevented so much crime from hurting Minnesota. Minnesota State Patrol says Maty has "some pretty impressive number."

During his time with us, Maty helped take nearly $975,000 in illegal cash, 377 pounds of methamphetamine, 131 pounds of cocaine, 53 pounds of powdered fentanyl, 87,000 fentanyl pills and one pound of heroin off Minnesota roads

What a good boy! K9 Maty is one of the biggest local heroes in Minnesota with an even bigger heart. You can tell Minnesota loves this K9.
