In a move that I had thought would of happened back in May or April, prior to the 2014 NFL Draft, Ryan Mallet was traded from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans.

The Patriots will receive a conditional seventh round draft pick in 2016 according to ESPN.com.

Im guessing the prior relationship with new Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien and the Patriots from his days as their offensive coordinator was an additional reason they were able to come to terms.

Plus, Mallet had been passed on New England's depth chart by rookie QB Jimmy Garoppolo as the backup to Tom Brady.

Mallet, only 26 years old,  may have a opportunity to have a solid career in Houston where Ryan Fitzpatrick, a NFL journeyman, is the starter.
