South Dakota State: Best Performance of Summit League Day 2

South Dakota State men's basketball, along with star-forward Mike Daum, put together the best performance of Day Two from the Summit League tournament.

The No. 4-seeded Jackrabbits defeated No. 5-seeded Denver, 83-73.

Daum led the Jackrabbits with his 33 points in 29 minutes of action. He also tallied six rebounds and committed only one turnover.

Reed Tellinghuisen stepped up early for the Jacks when the game was tight. He managed to hit his first seven shots, including four from behind the arc. His 18 points provided a major boost and separation between the two teams and allowed South Dakota State to cruise in the latter stages of the game.

In the second half, South Dakota State jumped out to a 61-41 lead with 15:30 remaining. Denver tried to claw back on a number of occasions, but every time the Pioneers moved within single digits, the Jackrabbits quickly hit a spurt and pushed the lead back to near 20 points.

The Jackrabbits led for nearly 38 minutes on Sunday.

Eight extra free throw attempts, seven of which the Jackrabbits converted, ultimately made up the difference between South Dakota State and Denver. It also helped that the Jacks valued the basketball, turning the ball over only nine times and avoiding wasted possessions.

South Dakota State will play top-seeded South Dakota in a men's semifinal on Monday at 6 p.m.
