The right foot of South Dakota State kicker Chase Vinatieri has moved the Jackrabbits one step closer to a second-straight Top Eight seed in the FVCS Playoffs, and he's been rewarded as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

Vinatieri, a sophomore from Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls, booted a game-winning 43-yard field goal in Saturday's (November 11) overtime win over Illinois State. He was also good from 34-yards earlier in the game.

The win was SDSU's fourth straight and moves the Jackrabbits to 8-2 overall, with the final game of the regular season coming up Saturday (November 18) against South Dakota, in Vermillion.

This is the second time this season Vinatieri has been named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week. He also earned the honor following the Jackrabbits' September 9 win at Montana State.
