One of the top starters in the Sioux Falls Canaries rotation last season is back in 2014.

Right-hander Kyle Ruwe will return for a third season after leading the team in wins (11) last season while setting a franchise and league record for innings pitched (115 1/3).

In a team press release, manager Steve Shirley said:

We’re thrilled to have Kyle back for another season.

His ability to go deep into a game and composure on the mound consistently gives us a chance to win ballgames.

Ruwe, 30, went 11-7 with a 3.71 ERA in 2013.  The 11 wins second best in the American Association. He also threw three complete games, and worked seven or more innings in 12 of his 22 starts.

The Florida native is entering his 10th season of professional baseball, all in the independent leagues.He has a 71-47 career record and a lifetime 4.45 ERA.

The Canaries open the 2014 season at home, May 15th, against Sioux City.
