Players in the D-League this time of year know the value of what can happen over 10 days. We shall see if the Sioux Falls Skyforce will put the last week and a half to maximum use.

The NBADL trade deadline officially passed Thursday afternoon (March 2) and the Sioux Falls Skyforce made one more change to wrap up the wheeler-dealer portion of the season. Out goes guard Luis Montero and a 2017 second round draft choice and in comes forward Kadeem Jack and the returning rights to forward Vince Hunter from the Reno Bighorns.

Numbers-wise here’s how it breaks down. Jack appeared in 30 games for the Reno Bighorns this season. He averaged 8.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 14 minutes per game. Jack really shined in Reno’s post season run last year with 13.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest over three games.

Montero, a 6-7 guard, started 15 of 36 games this season in Sioux Falls sporting a line of 8.8 points, 6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per outing. Meanwhile Hunter, who is a 6-10 forward from UTEP was one of the main reasons behind the Bighorns run to the playoffs last year when he produced 21.8 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, but left to play in Greece last February and has been in Russia this season.

This latest move will complete quite a 10-day makeover for the Skyforce as the final 10 games of the season arrive.

February 21: Skyforce reacquire forward Greg Whittington (member of last year’s title team), waived Markeith Cummings.

February 21: Denver Nuggets assign guard Malik Beasley to Sioux Falls Skyforce (though he could be recalled at any time).

February 24: Skyforce claim center Johan Petro (NBA veteran) off waivers, waived Vashil Fernandez.

February 27: Briante Weber signs 10-day contract with Charlotte Hornets (with a good chance he will stay longer).

March 1: Skyforce trade forward Stefan Jankovic to Erie BayHawks for the Northern Arizona 2017 second round pick that the BayHawks owned.

March 2: Skyforce reacquire guard Larry Drew II (who begins his fourth season with Sioux Falls).

March 2: Skyforce trade Luis Montero and 2017 second round choice for Kadeem Jack and returning rights to Vince Hunter.

The homestretch is here and only one game separates the cutoff between making the playoffs and the pain of not making it. Enjoy the ride through the rest of March.
