It was a wire-to-wire win to open the NBADL Showcase for the Sioux Falls Skyforce 114-105 over the Reno Bighorns in Mississauga, Ontario.

From the opening tap Sioux Falls (19-6) was able to build the early 9-2 lead which swelled to 12-points at halftime and eventually 25 late in the third period. In the closing stages, Reno (9-16) started to win the war of attrition as Jabril Trawick left due to a shoulder injury in the second half and three more fouled out.

Fortunately, enough clutch offense from Patrick Miller (29 points, a career high) and Briante Weber (14 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals) down the stretch was enough to secure the win for the Skyforce. Luis Montero was an efficient 8 of 12 from the floor (4-6 from deep) to score 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Bighorns got a big boost off the bench from Pe’Shon Howard (28 points, 6 rebounds) and Kadeem Jack (18 points, 12 boards) to close the gap late, but could only get within 9 at the closing buzzer. Reno’s Lamar Patterson, who is near the top of the NBADL Prospect Watch, got 19 points and 8 rebounds.

These two teams will hook up again in Reno next Wednesday after the Showcase. Otherwise each team will play one more north of the border with Sioux Falls mixing it up with the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Saturday and Reno faces the Salt Lake City Stars on Sunday.
