It was a close call, but the Sioux Falls Skyforce scratched out a road win 121-118 over the Reno Bighorns Wednesday night. Mind you, there was a time during the game that when the gap was wide.

The visiting Skyforce (26-19) had a firm grip on the game by turning a 47-40 deficit into a lead of 88-64 by the middle of the third quarter. Reno (17-30) gets a lot of credit for buckling down and closing to 94-90 at the end of three periods.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Bighorns made their final push in the 8-0 run to tie the game with a minute left. A three by the hosts with 23.3 seconds remaining put the Force behind by a point. Less than five seconds later, Scotty Hopson found Khem Birch on the pick and roll to capture the lead. Check out the clutch play on the clip below. After a stop, free throws by Bubu Palo sealed the win.

The last time these two teams met, Hopson dropped a franchise record 52 points. This time the former Cleveland Cavalier was a more moderate 38 points with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Shawn Jones (25 points, 13 rebounds) and Birch (14 points, 11 boards) each had double-doubles. Interesting stat of the night belonged to the Skyforce as each starter logged at least two steals.

Top scorer in the game came from the Reno side as forward Ra’shad James posted 42 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Veteran guard Dar Tucker was close behind with 32 points and 12 rebounds.

Next up for Sioux Falls is a weekend stay in the Treasure Valley against the Idaho Stampede. Meanwhile, Reno will gear up for the Texas Legends at the Reno Events Center on Saturday.
