Augustana Women's Soccer has come a long, long way from where it was when Brandon Barkus took over nine seasons ago.

On Tuesday, Coach Barkus was named NSIC Coach of the Year after leading the Vikings to a 14-4 overall record and a 12-3 mark in the NSIC.

The Augustana offense tallied 40 goals this season which was good enough to rank second in the NSIC and garner them a #2 overall seed in the NSIC tournament.

Not only did Coach Barkus receive recognition Tuesday, so did some of his players.  Five players were named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Conference teams from the Augustana roster.

Payton Pry, Stephanie Stevens, Emily Hanneman, Samantha Arnold and Ashley Limmer all eared All-NSIC honors by the league.  In addition, Annie Thoresen also received honorable mention recognition for the Vikings on Tuesday.

The Vikings' five selections are the most in team history and Samantha Arnold is the first Augie soccer player to be named NSIC Freshman of the Year since the Augustana College joined the league.

Augustana is a #2 seed as mentioned and returns to action on Wednesday as it plays host to No. 7 seed Minnesota Duluth in a NSIC Tournament quarterfinal match at Morstad Field. Game time is 2pmCT.
