Illinois Alum Back With Browns
After a solid 2021 campaign, the Cleveland Browns are re-signing former Illinois kicker Chase McLaughlin.
The Big Ten product finished last season 15-of-21 on Field Goal attempts, good for 71.4%, and made all but one extra point attempt.
After starting the season a perfect 9 for 9 on Field Goals, McLaughlin struggled a bit down the stretch, going 6 for 12 the rest of the way.
The terms of the contract have yet to be announced, but Pro Football Talk notes in their article that McLaughlin will have competition on the roster this offseason.
A three-year starter at Illinois, he finished 44 of 59 on Field Goal tries in college, and was a perfect 79 for 79 on extra points.
McLaughlin entered the NFL in 2019 as an undrafted free agent with the Bills, and has spent time with 8 different teams over three seasons in the league.
