Sioux Falls Christian Wins First State Title While Breaking Records
Sioux Falls Christian has won their first ever high school state football championship in Class 11B and they did so while setting a few records.
The Chargers defeated Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 27-12 by rushing the football as expected. Sioux Falls Christian rushed 65 times for 358 yards, and were led by Parker Nelson's 40 carries for 253 yards.
65 rushes for a team is a new 11B championship game record overtaking Gregory's 62 rushes in 2003. The 358 yards also set a new 11B championship game record beating Aberdeen Roncallli's 336 yard performance in 2006.
Nelson also individually broke two records in the victory for most rushing attempts and net rushing yards.
Sioux Falls Christian finishes the season 11-1 overall and state champions in Class 11B.
